- For material from last year's preparatory course in mathematics, see FORK 1003 Mathematics 2025/26. Notice that the curriculum is changed as a result of new master courses from the 2026/27 acdemic year.
Reading Mathematics
- [E] Eriksen, Graduate Mathematics for Business, Economics and Finance, Cappelen Damm 2021 is compulsory reading for the mathematics part of the course.
- The current printed edition of the textbook [E] does not contain Chapter 0. A preliminary version of [E] Ch 0 will be made available in Canvas.
- The handwritten notes from the lectures in mathematics will be posted on this page after each lecture.
Self-test Mathematics
- We provide the self-test Test for FORK 1003 Preparatory course in Mathematics - Solutions for the mathematics part of this course.
- The self-test can be taken before attending the course(to see if you need to follow it), or after the course (to see if you have learned the material and are prepared for your Master courses later in the semester).
- Self-evaluation: Max score for each problem on the test is given, with a total of 84p. A score of 50p or more is acceptable, a score of 65p or more is very good, and a score of 74p or more is excellent.

Lecture plan
- This is the lecture plan for August 2026 for Oslo. The lectures in mathematics and econometrics/statistics will not be streamed.
- For those of you that followed Bachelor in Business (sivøk) at BI (or similar courses), the lectures in this preparatory course will be review.
- For many other students, there may be a fair amount of new material, and it is strongly recommended to attend the preparatory course on campus in early August.
